Discovering Analog Photography
My name is Dora Lionstone, and I’m a visual artist based in Amsterdam. I have been passionate about photography for a while now, years before I switched from being a software developer to becoming a full-time artist. But it was only in 2017, at the beginning of my studies at the art academy, that I also discovered analog photography for my artistic process. Instead of completely turning to the analog world, I began to embrace it as one element of a hybrid approach. For exam...

My name is Calvin Carey, and I work as a Physicist here at HARMAN. I started in 2019.

Yosemite National Park
Let me take you back to the beginning of 2022, where my year started with an exciting adventure. I had the opportunity to take a trip to California, and my destination was Yosemite National Park. As a film photographer, I knew this was a location that held great significance. It was home to the Ansel Adams gallery and had a reputation for being an iconic spot to capture some breathtaking photographs. I had seen some of Ansel's prints online, but nothing could compare to seeing the or...
A Different View
After the success of last year’s competition we again opened up entries to students from around the world.
There were hundreds of prints entered, all shot on our ILFORD or Kentmere black and white films and printed in the darkroom by the students. The high quality of teaching from lecturers and educators was reflected by the difficulty that the judges had in choosing the winning image for this year’s theme of ‘A Different View’.
Winner!
As always, choosing the winner was not e...
A huge thank you to everyone who shared an image for this week's #ilfordphoto #fridayfavourites, with the theme being #themefree. This theme was popular with many entries, which we enjoyed looking through. Our favourites are below.

Why pinhole photography?
This is a question I’m often asked, by fellow photographers and complete strangers alike. Using a beautiful wooden Ondu camera, I began exploring the world of slow photography about five years ago. The moment I saw my first developed negatives I knew I’d found a glimpse of photographic heaven. This started my obsession with this ancient form of imaging. As you’ll see, my love of this medium has many facets – the creative possibilities, the look and even the image making pro...

Community Of Male Bathers
Lanterna “Beach” is a long-term project (2015-2022) that documents a community of male bathers in a town in Southern Italy, where I was born and raised, before leaving my country. The work explores the relationship between this peculiar community and the nature of the Pier where they sunbathe...
It's amazing how sometimes the simplest of themes can produce the most outstanding images. We have seen so many great shots for this week's #ilfordphoto #fridayfavourites #emptyspace theme. Thank you so much for taking the time to share them.
@davejsherwood. Here's my #emptyspace shoot for this week's #ilfordphoto #fridayfavourites. A small boat travelling up the River Douro in (you guessed it) Porto, Portugal. This one was shot on #delta400.
