I’m a great believer in serendipity. I was visiting a friend to deliver a print that she’d bought from me. At the time I was taking a lot of photos of graveyards, and she offered to show me a derelict cemetery which had been left hanging in the undergrowth on the banks of a major new road development. Each year we receive hundreds of requests for support from members of the film and darkroom printing community looking to create projects using our products.
The scope and scale of these projects vary. From documenting expeditions on large format film to alternative uses of our film and paper. And ,even setting up community darkrooms or running workshops for children. You have some amazing ideas and insatiable passion.

This year we opened the annual student competition up to entries from all around the world. We knew that many educational establishments had still not been able to fully return to darkroom printing but we wanted to give as many students as possible the chance to get involved. We are so glad that we did.
With over 500 entries from the four corners of the world, this year’s competition theme of ‘Natural Light’ was one of the toughest that we’ve ever had to judge.
