  • We all have a favourite place that we head to when we have the chance to escape for a while. For this week's #ilfordphoto #fridayfavourites #escapewithfilm film theme we asked you to share images of yours. @thoobill  This is near Mudgee, central west New South Wales. A wine growing region with clear night skies. Our trip was postponed earlier this year. Can’t wait to go back. FP4 plus. • Shooting Infrared film Infrared photography has always been a unique and niche art form, allowing a photographer to capture images seemingly from another dimension. I say niche because capturing that "perfect" image requires a different approach to pre-visualizing your scene, an understanding of the limitations of infrared and the ability to adjust your settings effectively for changing conditions.  For these reasons many photographers are reluctant to give IR film a try. This article will not only demo...
  • Is it really 10 weeks since we started this series? It feels so much shorter than that.  If you have an Instagram account we are sure that you will recognise our 10th interviewee Jahan Saber, if not by his name then by his tag @doyoudevelop.  Jahan was nominated to take part by Dan Rubin in week 6 and we're so glad that was happy to get involved. SECTION 1 - THE BEGINNING SHARE YOUR FAVOURITE IMAGE / PRINT SHOT ON ILFORD FILM AND TELL US WHAT IT MEANS TO YOU? There are so many, so here’s a recent ...
  • As many places around the world are starting to ease the strictest of lockdown restrictions, for this week's #ilfordphoto #fridayfavourites we asked you to share shots that show what #lockdown has meant to you. sacked_a_rail Cycling to work was always a good way to document what happened during the lockdown in my hometown Bolzano / Italy. This scene showed me how much we all suffer from social distancing. #ilfordphoto #fridayfavourites #lockdown #ilforddelta100 #hiddenbeauty #filmporvida #sackedarail ...
  • When we set you this week's #ilfordphoto #fridayfavourites theme of #nighttime we were expecting the majority of the images to be on our faster films, however, we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of you choosing to shoot some of our slower speed films in low light conditions too. @JohnScarbro1 Junction Box. @ILFORDPhoto FP4+ Minolta 505si #believeinfilm #filmphotography #blackandwhitephotography #analogphotography #ilfordphoto #fridayfavourites #nighttime #ishootfilm charlotte_gilliatt My fav...
  • In our 14th and possibly final Lockdown Session (before we move to a new format), we are bringing you Kit Young who was nominated by Ashley Carr back in week 9. SECTION 1 - THE BEGINNING SHARE YOUR FAVOURITE IMAGE / PRINT SHOT ON ILFORD FILM AND TELL US WHAT IT MEANS TO YOU? There are a lot, so I’ll pick this relatively recent print o...
  • Nagi I met Nagi on my weekly walk down Hollywood Blvd. Each Sunday I would take the Metro from Long Beach to Hollywood and Highland. Shooting and conversing with those I'd meet along the way. On this specific day, October 27th,2019 to be exact, I met Nagi on my way back to the Metro station. He was with his friend walking his bike along the stars. His ecstatic energy and rambunctious demeanor instantly sparked my attention. I originally stopped and asked him for a quick portrait along the Boulevard. Howeve...

  • An Unexpected Love My love for Iceland was born unexpectedly, I absolutely didn’t see it coming and it washed over me like a tidal wave in a monsoon.  We were planning a holiday of a lifetime. Somewhere with beautiful scenery to photograph, that was the only stipulation. It was more of an exploring holiday rather than the usual beach holiday we were used to. Countries were thrown in the ring, I really wanted to go to Sweden and my husband threw in Iceland. It’s like I didn’t even know it existed ...
  • We've admired Tom Kirkendall's beautiful pinhole images and darkroom prints for a while and were thrilled when he agreed to take part in this series and allow us to find out a little more about him in this, our 38th In Focus interview. Section 1 - Background Share your favourite image / print shot on ILFORD film and tell us what it means to you? My favorite photo??? Now that is a difficult decision. In the words of Ansel Adams “It is the one I have not taken yet” But if I am pressed to make a decisio...
