HARMAN technology Limited was formed in 2005 by former managers of ILFORD Imaging UK Limited.
The Company acquired the facilities at Mobberley, Cheshire, England, where ILFORD products have been designed and manufactured for many years, enabling us to continue making and selling the world famous ILFORD brand of black and white photographic products.
The company trades as ILFORD PHOTO for the range of monochrome film, paper, and photo chemistry products.
High-end inkjet desktop media for colour and monochrome prints, and wide format inkjet display media are available in the HARMAN PHOTO brand.
The name HARMAN comes from Alfred Hugh Harman who founded the original ILFORD company in 1879.
We are passionate about what we do. Our aim is ‘to be the best in black and white’.
The unique portfolio of equipment, facilities and expertise at our disposal has also led us into exciting new arenas in recent years, quite removed from photography but which require the same precision and capacity for innovation.
HARMAN technology’s philosophy is, ‘Inspired by Imagination, Shaped by Science’, and this boundless passion for innovation has seen the application of our cutting-edge technology open up new opportunities for the business.
Having spent decades creating smaller and smaller particles of Silver Halide with maximised photo-reactivity, we are now seeing a demand for our capabilities in this area from sectors as diverse as bio-medical research and nanotechnics.
The same Silver Halide technology that has been developed for over a century to create modern photographic products also has a multitude of other applications when particles are produced to the scale and precision boasted by HARMAN technology.
Our expertise lies in innovation, development and precision – which is integral to our position in the photographic marketplace, but which is also opening up new avenues of revenue that will help us to continue to grow and thrive in the future.
